If you know how to SUP but want to improve, we can help you tweak your technique to help you go faster, get more stable and recruit the right muscles.
Practice Stand Up Paddle Yoga
Whether you’re new to yoga or an experienced yogi, we will take you out of the studio to practice in nature. Let the sound of the sea under the board relax you. Enjoy new challenges as the gentle motion of the ocean hones your sense of balance, and learn new poses designed just for the board.
Island Paddle HK was founded by fitness and ocean enthusiast couple, Esther Bland and Niall Westley with the aim of sharing their love of watersports.
Having lived and grown up in Hong Kong, they learned that while Hong Kong waters have so much to offer, safety and quality instruction is sometimes lacking.
Over the years, they witnessed friends get into trouble while swimming or paddling because they weren’t equipped with the right knowledge and didn’t know how to check their gear.
They started Island Paddle to give people the confidence to paddle safely whether hiring a board or buying their own. They hope to give people the knowledge to assess conditions, paddle with the right technique, and most importantly learn to respect and enjoy the ocean.
We offer private one-on-one lessons, small group classes of up to four, and for special occasions we can cater for up to 20 people. Lessons and tours are 90-minutes and take place in Stanley Bay.

Esther is an ASI Level 2 Stand Up Paddleboard instructor. She loves the water and is a trained AUSTSWIM swimming instructor, lifeguard and personal trainer. She has been a competitive rower for 14 years and has captained women’s rowing at club and university level.
Niall is a registered yoga teacher, a trained ASI Stand Up Paddleboard and SUP Yoga instructor. Outside of SUP he is a competitive outrigger canoeist, dragonboat paddler and sailor. He competes frequently in 6 person and 1 person outrigger canoes, and has represented the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at various races. During the Dragonboat season he paddles for the Royal X, and has represented Great Britain at the 2019 Dragonboat World Championships.
